So yesterday I went to see Rogue One and, preferring to build the more "obscure" props (as opposed to your typical lightsaber/blaster builds) I knew I had to give this a go. My plan is to have this 3D printed, so I fired up good ol' TinkerCAD and made a start on the model.
The main body measures 74x110mm and is 2mm thick. I also added the thicker black rectangle to the bottom of the card (this is also 2mm thick)
Next came the 4 concentric rings. These were pretty easy to model: the outer ring has a diameter of 2.5" (based on the size of a hard drive disk), and there is a 1.5mm gap between each ring.
Finally, I added the rings to the card and the model was complete.
I'll have this 3D printed in the New Year and post some photos as I begin working on this project properly.
